Puddle Jumping Karma

PeaceOf Mayhem Fun for All Mother's Day Spring Summer What? by EH

Ahhh, Karma - You Beautiful Bitch!

Mother's day, celebrated by attempting to exchange a scarf I bought for my mom at Cracker Barrel. Rain had been pouring, non stop, all morning...

Flashback................

My 16th birthday. It rained the entire day and we spent hours playing at the park and splashing in the puddles. Best birthday so far...

Mid-July.  The rain came down warm and refreshing. At 4 years old being barefoot in the gutter was relatively condoned. It was glorious...

My favorite oldsmobile memory. Brandy driving us through the "lake" behind the SHED restaurant. SPLASH!...

Springtime. He who will not be named, took me to a vacant office building with a gigantic parking lot full of huge puddles in the middle of a massive downpour. We jumped and splashed and played all afternoon...

Nationals. Topeka, KS. It rained the cricket pouring rain I'd never seen before. I splashed alone in the courtyard of the motel only a few minutes before I was joined by other frolic loving debaters...

My mother scolding me a thousand times for splashing in the parking lot puddles - at church (her favorite), at school, at the post office, at the bank, at the dentist, at the grocery store, at the mall, at the park, ANYWHERE water collected....

Taking my tiny niece at 2 years old to splash in the puddles after church. She squealed with joy as she muddied her white beautiful dresses (lace, satin, taffeta) complete with white tights and her SUPER annoyed mom...

As I was saying - I was taking a scarf back to exchange it at Cracker Barrel that rainy Mother's day morning. I had my sons flanking me as my gentleman escorts, and I was dressed my favorite way (cute skirt, knee socks, leather clogs, and a random matching top).

We're hustling in to avoid getting soaked. As we make our way a middle age man exits and heads towards us. He nods - just as my youngest son spontaneously jumps in a huge puddle I did not see or anticipate.

I am shocked by ice cold, muddy, rain water splashing me all the way up to my thighs. I am sure I shrieked. My face must have been somewhere between What the fuck? and WHAT THE FUCK!

Simultaneously my son looked up at me SO PLEASED by the splash and realized my displeasure, causing him to look confused. He said "What?" And the man busted up, laughing Belly Laughs!

Happy Splashing!! -EH
